are too busy playing GPL 1.1, the most amazing force-feedback
implementation of all time. If you do not have FF you are not reading
this post either, since you are driving to the store to buy one. So I
guess I'm just talking to myself.
GPL 1.1 force feedback puts all other FF attempts to shame (except
Viper Racing, which is still good, though not near the level of GPL
1.1).
Within half an hour I posted my best laps at Monza and Watkins Glen. I
don't expect it will do the same for the fast hotlappers, but GPL slow
pokes like me the world over will be rejoicing.
It has to be felt to be believed. You can actually FEEL the weight of
the car moving around - in all four directions!
For the first time I can do those damn powerslides, because I can feel
exactly what the wheels are doing, how much they are gripping and how
much they are sliding.
I can reduce my braking distances because I can feel the weight of the
car bearing down on me, and anticipate it's effects.
I can accelerate out of turns faster because I can feel the wheels
slowly regaining their grip as well as feeling the weight shift again,
to the back of the car.
I can finally control the car on straightaways like a real car,
because I can feel it's weight swinging from side-to-side as it
settles. I can recover from problems (eg., bad cornering) because of
the same effect.
In short, this is the best free program upgrade I have ever
downloaded. I hope you get it early because I have a feeling the papy
site's going to be overloaded today! (It's a small file though, so it
should spread to other sites pretty fast.)
Thanks Papyrus (and Randy C) it was worth the wait!
