last 6 months with no problems on a dx2-80 machine. I recently had a
component on the motherboard fail and the vendor replaced the
motherboard with the *same* motherboard (Silicon Star an4r2).
I have the new mb installed exactly as the old one (jumpers, cmos, etc).
After installing the new mb, I also upgraded the harddrive to an
850mb. I built the data on the new 850 from my most recent backup.
Heres the problem: When I run Nascar it works fine for awhile and then
in the middle of a race, the machine locks up and I must reboot. This
has happened on various tracks (atlanta, pocono, etc). I also saw
(only *once*) a "cant load garage" msg when trying to go to "Garage".
my ?'s:
1. Must I reinstall NASCAR from CDROM when running from a new harddisk
or motherboard for any copy protection/hidden files/etc (i.e. the
restore didnt build things properly)?
- if so, what should be saved before deleting the curr directories
(my *.stg, new car sets, ??)?
- steps: Install cdrom and then expansion pack (no other patches)?
2. If I dont need to reinstall Nascar, do you have any suggestions for
the lockups? As I mentioned, its the same motherboard/jumpers/cmos.
I dont see how it is the mthrbd.
- I even tried setting the mb cmos to more conservative settings
(which I didnt have to do before), but the lockups still occur
Thanks...Chuck Andersen
