hello all    need to buy a new computer as old dinosaur finally crapped out.
found one with the following
intel 845pesvl motherboard
intel pentium 4 2.53 ghz cpu
512 mb ddr pc2700 ram
80 gb hard drive 7200 (8mb buffer)
1.44 mb floppy drive
janton geforce 4 128 mb ti4200
sound blaster live 5.1
system also comes with 19" .25 dpi monitor

now the question i need answered by the experts, will this new system run
nascar2003 to its maximum level or are there some things i should consider
changing b4 ordering system to be built. i never race online, just at home on
the computer, so no need to take that into consideration.
all your replys will be given great consideration as i ponder my decision to
purchase this new unit. many thanks to all of you who reply.  don

FWIW, I just recently built a new system similar to what you have there. The
only big differences are the video card and sound card....I too, was
considering a ti4200 but opted for the ti4600 after seeing a cpl reviews and
comparisions..

http://www6.tomshardware.com/graphic/20021218/vgacharts-02.html

I run 1600x1200x32, with everything on high except Structure shadows on
cars. Drawing distance of 100% and field of view at 75.

I would say I avg 50+ fps in online league races....that's a basic average,
there' s some tracks that it drops to 47 exiting T2 or something like that,
but mostly hovers around 53 range...
I don't race offline much, but did see what it'd get....I had full field
showing and everything cranked like above...started from the rear at Atlanta
and it was in the upper 20s-mid 30s for several laps....just on the edge of
raceable....as the field thinned a bit, it jumped up a bit....

Like I said though...I don't race offline much and only league race, so it's
plenty for me....

My specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 2.4BGHz 512K 533MHz CPU Northwood P478 Processor
GIGABYTE GA-8GE667 PRO, Intel 845GE chipset Socket 478 P4
EVGA GeForce4 GF TI4600 128M VIVO 8X AGP Video Card
CRUCIAL MICRON 512MB 64x64 PC 2700 DDR RAM
Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM Hard Drive 8MB Model # 6Y080P0
CREATIVE LABS SOUND BLASTER AUDIGY WITH 1394
Samsung SW-248FEAB 48x24x48 CDRW Black
SAMSUNG 1.44MB BLACK FLOPPY DRIVE
FOXCONN SUPER CASE MID TOWER CASE *BLACK* w/ 400W
19" Viewsonic A90
Cambridge 4.1 surround

Good luck,
Keith

Somehave said the SB Live 5.1 can rob you of FPS, becuase it uses more
CPU cycles than the new Audigy.  I think that 1.44 MB floppy drive
mught cuase you some issues, not really sure what you will be using it
for in regards to n2003, but on a serious note not a fan of Intel
motherbaords, prefer Asus or Abit.
