had previously posted for tips from all the experts on what to add to the new
system i was prepared to buy. the following is what i came up with and the
quote. lmk how this looks:
motherboard- intel 845pesvl
cpu- pentium 4  2.53ghz (533mhz fsb)
memory- 512mb  pc2700
hard drive- western digital 80gig w/ 8mb cache buffer
floppy- sony 1.44
video card- chaintech geforce4 ti4600  (add $132.00 if i want ati 9700 pro)
monitor- phillips flat black .21dpi
keyboard-  logitech cordless keyboard combo
case- eva black lighted case w/ front usb
modem - intel 56k
net card- intel 10/100 on board
sound card- sound blaster audigy 2   ** as many of you suggested!!!!!!!
cd rom- nec 52x cd-rom/liteon 52x cdrw
op sys-  windows xp home edition
warranty  3 years parts and labor

sub total quote  $1559.00      add 132.00 if i want the ati pro 9700

good ???  no good??? can still improve???   lmk   thanks   don

Spend the $132 you won't regret it. Definitly worth it to upgrade to a 9700
PRO over a ti4600. Everything else looks good. I would try to get into the
800mhz bus intels if possible too.

I would agree at this point on the Motherboard.  I have an Asus P4PE (845PE)
but the new boards (875 I believe) will do the 800 MHz FSB chips, so I would
probably go that route instead.  But the Combo you have listed is definitely
a good one.  Using the 2.53 P4 CPU, you would probably be just fine with
what you have listed.

I haven't checked to see if the price looks competitive though.
