Probably cause AGP ISN'T SUPPORTED BY ANTHING!!!  I wouldn't buy AGP or
anything w/ it for a while since no one supports it and I am sure that
is the reason N2 won't work.  If it isn't an intergrated motherboard,
sell that or keep it for safe keepings, and then go out and by a one
slot 3Dfx board like the Hurcules 128 or something.  Or you can buy a
Rendition V2200 card, and couple it with a Canopus Pure 3D.

Hi Guys and Gals,
OK I finally got my new computer.  I'm all e***d to see N2 on this baby and I
can't get N2 to run!  Arrrggggg!
Stats:
Dell Pentium II
64 meg ram
6.4 gig HD
24x CD
Altec Lansing 495's
19" Dell monitor
STB 128 AGP video card NVidia chipset I think

Problem:
When I install the sim it all goes fine untill the part about installing the
univbe drivers.  It halts and gives a message saying that an Svga card can't be
found!??
I tried running the sim anyhow and the opening screen goes fine but when it
kicks over to load the sim--  nothing!  a big black screen.  So for giggles I
tried running the nasrend.bat to see if that might work...nota.
PLEASE-- can someone give me an idea of what's going on and how to fix it.  I
read the read me which stated some video cards won't use univbe and delete two
files from the N2 directory.  I did as stated and still no luck.  Tried
reinstalling still the same.  I'm cryin here...spent 3k to play N2 and I got a
blank screen.
I'm sure it's something simple and if I wasn't so e***d could figure it out
but I'm having major brain fade at this point.
Any help appreciated!

Thanks all-- but I got it working!
Awesome w/ all cars drawn all graphics on all sounds the whole shooting
match... What a difference from my 486/100 w/ stealth 64!!!
I'm so happy I could just wet my drawer----ops.  ;)

I reloaded N2 and when prompted to load univbe I said "no".  Who knows, one of
them things I guess.
At any rate, I'm gone Racin......

Glad you got N2 working!  I've got a quick question for you (I was buggin
you with this one when you first announced you ordered your computer as
well)  How are those ACS-495 speakers?  I've got my system coming around
New Years, and I'm just curious if they will be worth what I paid for them.

Also, do you own Cart Precision Racing?  Some people with Velocity 128
cards have reported flickering when playing the game, and I'm trying to
figure out if the latest drivers (released 11-25) have fixed the
problem.....

Thanks, and have fun with that new system!!!

Open my mouth another time but I have to get some info.  I, like many
simracers, ordered a Dell for X-mas.  The mail truck is supposes to come in
about 3hours (very e***d of trowing off my old P100).  I also wonder about
the ACS-495.  They look like extreme speakers (Dolby Surround) but are they
REALLY good ? Worth the price ?.

Yes Randy Magruder also had the same systems as our 4.  He had some problems
with I think (AFAIK) with C:PR.  But hey rememer the Velocity drivers are
pre-pre-pre-alpha still, so hey what a great future our AGP card :).

Hey Xducer,
I had the exact same problem with a Viper 330 AGP card! What I did was
yank out that beastie and slam in the old reliable Intergraph Intense 3D
100 on the PCI bus. N2 runs great on my new PII/300 with the old
Rendition card. I'm planning on buying either a Hercules Thriller 3D AGP
card or a Jazz Multimedia Outlaw 3D AGP 8meg (you read that right!)
card. Both should be available in January.
Good luck, all the best, Mike Davis

Well guys for one thing the version of Univbe that came with nascar2 doesn't
support the new video cards. But on the upside they are already or should be
VESA 2.0 compliant so the univbe is worthless anyway so don't even try to
load it because it won't work or degrade your video card.
