I have the 'advantage' of running Win and installing drivers for new cards
that way. For my PCI64 there are also DOS drivers installed. So, all I
can do at this stage is getting you to the next step in getting your
card to function in DOS (though it might already be complete)
For what comes next I have to assume that Gateway did supply you with
the original PCI64 CD, If you don't have these files on neither your HD
nor a CD, then you should contact your supplier.
Try to locate the file APINIT.COM on your harddisk. If you find it, then
the following files should be in that directory :
APCONFIG.EXE
APINIT.COM
APLEGACY.EXE
APLOAD.EXE
APMIXER.EXE
APTEST.EXE
AUDIOPCI.BIN
DOS4GW.EXE
MT32.EXE
Otherwise try to find them on the CD , create a directory like C:\PCI64
and put them in that directory.
Next copy the files SNDSCAPE.INI and EAPCI2M.ECW from the CD to the directory.
Edit the file SNDSCAPE.INI and change the last paragraph to :
; Waveset - path and file name of current waveset
SynthFile=C:\PCI64\EAPCI2M.ECW
Make sure you run EMM386 (required by APINIT) and add the following to
your autoexec.bat :
SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T2
SET SNDSCAPE=C:\PCI64
C:\PCI64\APINIT
Ofcourse you may need to fiddle around with the IRQ's, etc. As you will notice
there are settings in SNDSCAPE.INI for emulation of a Soundblaster Pro, this is
also the choice to make in GP2 (and probably ICR2, I don't have that) and it
should then be able to autodetect.
You can also try how the other apps in C:\PCI64 can be of help to you.
In other games/apps you can also select Soundscape instead of SB PRo, in
Transport Tycoon Deluxe I even *had* to, and it gave me a totally new experiance
of the ingame music.
Hope this helps so far, and I hope you'll get it running,
Bye
