Just bought GP2 today at Best Buy in Atlanta for $27.95. Did not
purchase earlier due to the messages that I had read here concerning the
frame rate, but it is GP season ('97 is great so far), and at this
price, could not resist. I was happily surprised that it has an
acceptable frame rate for my driving style on my now out of date P-150
Intel Overdrive, Stealth 64 2Mb, CH equipped home built. The sound and
graphics are easily enough to justify the expense; I lived in Europe for
10 years, and have been fortunate to attend a few GPs. The sound of an
accelerating F1 car is something that I shall never forget. Microprose
got this and a few other details right enough that the "experience"
makes up for any loss in frame rate or AI. I have walked through the
tunnel at Monaco thinking I wonder what it is like to drive through this
thing at 170 MPH? Well, you and I know that I will never really
experience that, but this afternoon I came close enough to make me sweat
(and smile).
If I only had a P-266 and a T2, I'd need Nomex.
