I gues you know the obvious question... if anyone put down the
dollars, is GP2 any better now?  Can someone finally run (assuming the
person purchased a video card with at least 4megs of RAM maybe 6) with
all the details on, and still get at least a framerate of 23, maybe
more?  Some how I'm guessing GP2 users will be unhappy.

I used to think that, and it generally is the case with most 2D cards. Some
of the newer 3D cards use the extra RAM as a cache for the textures and
this allows a faster frame rate.

I'm now guessing, but if the card has much faster on-board RAM, and it was
used as a frame buffer, would this also give a faster frame rate?
