I am an avid Nascar racer and I occasionally read this newsgroup too.
I noticed somebody requesting a good qualifying setup for Michigan so
here is my way of doing it.
With this setup I reached a top speed of 190.665 mph just minutes before
writing this. I am pretty sure one can make this car go even faster that that
but let's get down to facts. Here it goes...
Tires: RF 53psi Shocks: RF 0%
RR 50psi RR 90%
LR 51psi LR 100%
LF 46psi LF 100%
Stagger: +1,450 Fuel: 2 gallons
Spoilers: front 4,0 inches and rear 60 degrees
Camber: RF -2,80 and LF +0,80
Weight jack: left 54,2%
rear 51,4%
cross 48,5%
Wheel lock: 8 degrees
(this reflects my preferences and has no relation to performance)
So there it is. Give it a try and let me know if it worked.
I would be interested to know other fast qualifying setups you people have
come up with. I am working on a setup which gave me a lap of 191.447 (in Michigan
also) on preseason testing but at the moment it is totally undriveable in
qualifying and racing conditions because the tires get up to temperature only
after four or five laps.
I can be reached by email so if you have any comments feel free to mail'em.
