How to pit in NASCAR?

: This is the stupidest thing. How the hell do I pit in NASCAR? I 1) Radio
: in to make sure everthing is set up OK. 2) I pull up to the pit. I stop.
: Nothing happens.
: Is there a button I press, or what? The manual doesn't help. Thanks

The most common mistake is to not press the BRAKES.  If you are using
your keyboard press the key for your brakes.  The other problem is that
you may have overshot your pitstall.

You also have to hit the brake to get your crew to start.  Don't just
roll to a stop.

I have had this happen to me if I coast to a stop.

Just tap your brakes and the pit stop should start...

I run NASCAR version 1.21 and I can sit there for minutes on end (after
coasting to a stop) and nothing is done.  When I hit the brakes, then the
pit stop begins.  VERY TRUE.
Do you have autobraking turned on?  This may be why you don't see what I
see happening.

I have never had any difficulty with pitting in either NASCAR or
Indycar but that might go to the fact that I have always used the
keyboard for acceleration/braking/reverse as a habit going back to
when I had no joystick.  I prefer "A" for accelerator and "Z" for
brakes with the space bar for reverse when driving Indycar but these
didn't work for NASCAR so I use "S" for accelerator and "X" for brakes
and the left shift key for reverse.  That way I the joystick is only
for steering.  I've happy with it.
