Is LWFF better than ff guillemot ferrari for GPL?

by Jon Brooke » Tue, 11 Apr 2000 04:00:00

Hi all, could anyone tell me which is the best wheel of  the above two for
GPL?
The LWFF feels slightly better in the shops than the ferrari, but the LWFF
pedals are absolutely vile.
If the LWFF is much better to play GPL( i havent had chance to try it) I may
buy this and add on some other pedals - CH pro etc.

All advie appreciated, TIA...

The Ferrari wheel has a better drag to power ratio. Both wheels are smooth,
about the same. The Ferrari has much stronger FF and the indicated
resolution is higher.  Ferrari is about $20 US cheaper than the LWFF (check
pricewatch.com), has excellent pedals for GPL and a stick shifter. The
Ferrari has very little steering shaft slop, the LWFF has a lot. In split
axis mode, the Ferrari uses the typical x,y and z axis, the LWFF uses x,z
and r axis, which is not compatible with Midtown Madness and maybe some
other games in split axis mode.

Comment on the LWFF pedals:
there are 3 ways to go:
1. keep and use the Logi-pedals, some people (me inclusive) report to get used
to them after a while
2. modify the pedals, e.g. stiffer springs, tennis ball, doorstop
3. invest and wire in CH-pedals

Hope this helps
