GP2 Tracks

Hello to all.

I1m new to this newsgroup, new to GP2, new to the T2 and new to a DOS
machine (in fact, I bought it just to play GP2... I1ve been a Mac user for
the last 13 years, and still am!). In the last two days, all I did was
browse the Net and I visited every GP2 site I could find in order to fill
my head with everything that could improve my driving pleasure with GP2.

I installed GPEdit 1.53 and I also installed the 1997 cars, helmets,
drivers, etc.

What I didn1t find on the Net (I read all the FAQs I found) were the new
tracks for the 1997 season. Is it possible to change the circuits in GP2?
If so, where are the 1997 tracks? If not, how are we supposed to simulate
the 1997 season if the tracks are not the same, and not in the same order?

Thanks guys! I1ll be reading you every day from now on. GP2 is the greatest
simulation I ever saw!

Sorry Christian,
That's one of "our" biggest bug-bears with Microprose. No track path & no
likleyhood of there being one :(>
Happy racing!

Well I know they have at least one modified track already coded as at the
'97 AutoSport International Show in Birmingham they had the 1997 changed
version of the Silverstone track.

Someone is working on a track editor. But don't get too e***d: at this point
he only found out how to recalculate the checksum. :-)

Visit Pieter van  Dieren's site. I think the guy asked for help on this project.

Wouldn't we all love a track-editor??

Who needs Microprose for new tracks? If we have 100 exited programmers we
can build our own GP2 Track Editor (mine will be called UTE), interested?

Well, it might sound strange but NO.... I would like to have the
tracks of the 1997 season, but on the otherhand if anyone can design
tracks, what will hapen to racing by e-mail ?

I could build a track that looks like Imola but is just x meters
shorter and so I will drive the best laps......

If you know what I mean...

I think no one knows what you mean... A track editor would be huge!!
this is one of the best thing that could happen for gp2 along with 3d
card support or faster engine...

Couldn't we maybe get some help from MicroProse on creating a track
editor. After all they've decided to totally abandon the program and
provide completely no support what-so-ever so at least they could do is
provide details of how the tracks are coded.

I for one would love to outbrake someone into the Tamburello *chicane* !

Because of the fact that MicroProse offers no more support for GP2, I
doubt that they will help with the track format. Give it a try, though.
