I have tried installing a reactor in a SuperMicro 55CMS motherboard with a
P200 process and get an error (unable to load microcode) when running
DMATEST. I have tried several bios's and changing every bios option
imaginable. I have also tried running dmadiag first. Using it in non-dma
mode is unacceptably slow - makes my Stealth card look like is on steroids.
Perhaps this motherboard just will not run the Reactor in DMA mode - it is
a late 1994 design.
Couple of questions :
1. Has anyone made the Reactor work in this motherboard - and how ?
2. Motherboards are cheap these days - a lot less the 200 mhz cpu. What
Pentium motherboards are people using with the Reactor in dma mode and
seeing super frame rates? I currently get near 30 fps at Dover in N2
drawing all cars ahead, 3 behind, and turning on car textures, fence,
infield vehicles and skips using my Stealth card. Not too bad - but I
would like to turn on the light poles at C***te and get the thing
running at 30fps at Talladega on the start with all 38 cars drawn ahead.
and me at the back.
Thanks for the help. /THansen
