Sierra 3d and Reactor Problems

by Greg Alexand » Mon, 30 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I installed the Sierra drivers and BIOS over the Reactor drivers and
BIOS and everything worked OK until my monitors low power standby
feature kicked in.  The machine locks up about 7 out of 10 times.  My
problem with the Reactor was really messed up fonts when I go to MS
DOS mode.  I can type mode co80 and it clears up.  This problem also
happens 7 out of 10 times.  What scenario should I go with?  Are the
Sierra drivers that much better than the Reactor drivers that I should
disable power management.  I hate to do that because I leave my
computer on  an awful lot.  I appreciate any and all suggestions.

I don't think the Sierra drivers are a significant improvement over
Intergraph's.  The Sierra's GUI is faster (text scrolling) but
DirectDraw performance is unchanged (Intergraph's are faster when you
disable Vsync in Flip).

I have never been able to get my monitor to wake-up from low power
standy-by, I always get a blue-screen error.  I just disabled all the
power management and I turn off my monitor when I'm not using it (I
leave my machine on all day too).
