NFSSE & Reactor problem

by Arturo Ve » Fri, 31 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Hi,

Has anybody had this problem (and could help me to solve it) ?

I have the Reactor 3D card, I can play all games without problems (N2, ICR2, GP2,
S2, Rally Championship) except NFSSE. When I tried to load NFSSE told me I needed
to install DirectX2, so I installed it from the game, but it then asked me to
replace my existing display driver, I accepted, and when the computer restarted all
the screen got messed up. I had to restart it in safe mode and put back only the
Verite display driver (and removed the S3, which is btw the graphics card of
my pc integrated in the motherboard). Then the display went back to normal, but
I still had the same message in NFSSE asking me again to install DirectX2. I
really don't know what to do.

A similar problem occured with Monster Truck Madness, but after reinstalling the
Verite driver I was still able to play this game.

Please help me if you have any hint. It's really disappointing to not be able to
play this nice game... I have to finish it before NFS2 comes out ! :-)

BTW, I just wanted to say thanks in public to Eric T. Busch and David Sparks who
are always willing to help anyone. I really appreciate your help.

And also mention that ICR2 Rendition is excelent ! It made me forget that I had
a slow Dell Pentium 75Mhz ! Nascar 2 is great too, even with its bugs. But hey,
who knows of an error-free software ? I know is not acceptable, but it's reality,
we just have to ask for solutions and thank that Papy guys at least keep in touch
with us and try to solve the problems. Not like Microprose. I used to like GP2,
but it's so frustrating to race in slow-motion. I hope the F1 from Psygnosis can
be more fun (have you read the big-bugs they have in the Playstation?).

Thanks,
Arturo Vega

Try tracking down Directx3. Hopefully it will work in addition to your
display driver and not replace it. Earlier Directx versions are a
nightmare. Don't ask me where to get version3. It comes with some games,
or you could try Microsoft's web page.
