For those of You still debating over whether you should buy a Thrustmaster
T2 or not: BUY ONE!!!! I've just received my oder from Computer Express, and
it's awesome: it looks cool on my desk and the steering wheel feels comfy,
too. Oh, yeah, and You can use it in GP2 and NFSSE. ;)
For starters, I would suggest to try it out in NFSSE first. (If you use it
under Win95, don't forget to calibrate your wheel in Win95's Control Panel
first!) Although in NFSSE I had to turn the wheel all around in corners, since
the game is not very sensitive to small wheel turns, I did get used to the
wheel and the unusual eye-hand-leg coordination. :) Then go to the real
challenge, and try to complete some laps in GP2. Good luck! :)
I am still using automatic shifting in both GP2 and NFSSE, but until I put
pushbuttons on the wheel spokes (aka, semi-automatic gearbox :-), it is
pretty tough to play with gearshifting, since I hate to take my right hand
off the wheel. (Are you listening, Thrustmaster?) Also, in GP2 I turn the
steering help on. With steering help off, the game is much more playable
than with my now "old" joystick with steering help off and it is much more
responsive - but so far, way too tough for me. ;)
Here's my question: if I turn steering help off in GP2, I use a max turn
of 32 (or 35, whichever is the max value) degrees, 100% reduction with speed
and 100% low sensitivity zone. Anybody has better values or settings? I
find the above settings fairly good for myself, but I would like to know if
there is a better setup for my T2.
This T2 is simply GREAT!
Signed,
One very happy customer... ;)
PS: Anybody has an idea on how to put a clutch on the T2 so I can utilize
it under GP2? (Talking about COMPLETE simulation... ;)
