No discussion?

Not a good sign of things to come.

In the practice race last night the AI were not very nice. Minor damage
from a rear bump by one of them took almost 20 mph off in the speed
department seems over exaggerated . I couldn't even draft.

That's why I suggested in another thread we turn down the damage to moderate
(setting only effects body damage). A slight dent on the cars and you are
out of a SS race in N2003 which isn't realistic at all. I saw cars that
looked like h*ll in the real Talladega race that were able to stay in the
lead pack with no problem at all.

I was following Pete when he got bumped. The AI just moved up on him
going into T3. Of course I got caught up in it.
After that, Pete and I tried to draft for a while, but my connection
to the server went bad and I got dumped.
BTW, Larry and I got in late and started from the pits 1 lap down,we
were drafting nicely, gaining 1 sec+ per lap when the first caution
came out. I think we coulda caught the leaders.

We should of been talking about the same type of things (technique,
strategy, asking for help) we talk about for the other tracks.

The fact is, as a group, we stink at the SS tracks yet it seems like
everyone thinks that SS races are easy and we all know what we are doing.

We could be talking about never seeing Eldred's server. We raced on
JS's server. Or did Eldred's start at 9 Eastern/8 Central?

See my thread below...

The problem on the Superspeedways is the same as on the other tracks: the
unwillingness to follow someone who is slightly slower (or to wait for him
to move over) and underestimating the difficulty of actually passing
someone. It's just accentuated on Superspeedways through the nature of the
track, the restricted engines and the setups used.

I don't think Superspeedways are easy. I find them very hard to drive (in
traffic) and set up for. I therefore try to stay out of people's way until
such time I feel I have mastered them, but in view of the consequences of
the above that's not always possible.

The SS are all about sticking your nose in all the right places.  I think
there's a song in that somewhere :)

Learning little tricks to slow you down when needed _without_ having to
touch the brakes or let up on the gas so you don't kill momentum.

It's all about air :)

Eldred, your server did not appear on Thursday. We had to run John's
server for the practice race. The AI took punted all of us human sort
into the wall. A small step for man.....a giant leap for AI. Dale jr
took the checkered. Go figure.
