Ok guys, lets forget bout the Vegas race and start looking at the big
Daytona race. John, I hope you don't quit....at least wait till the end of
the season. The Daytona race is going to be tricky because we all have the
same setups and we will be getting mighty close in the corners. Its going to
be nerve racking but great racing. Lifting to prevent a wreck should be the
norm. Qualifying times should all be very close and the pole positon will be
the smoothest cat in the litter. Should be a jolly good time for all of us
lucky chaps!
Cheers,
grub

Agree. All in all last race wasn't too bad (regardless of whether John will
allow his cage to be rattled by recent events) and we've got a pressure
cooker to look forward to.

I think the pressure cooker is going to be Texas.

This is a FAST track, and the FAST setup is not that bad.

I did about 50 laps last night, and I think I've learned a few things...

First, I can get down to the 29.30's if I really pay attention.  29.60's are
average right now.

Don't _even_ think about touching the brakes with this setup!  Even in the
slightest amount.  If you do, your south end is going to head north in a
heartbeat.  It's really that bad.  If you have started into the corner, and
there's something blocking the low line, you're better off lifting off
slowly and letting tire drag slow you down and take you up the hill.  If you
touch the brakes, it's all over.

I think Yellows are going to be very important here, but I also think we may
see a higher number of them than usual.  I'm very concerned about the exit
of turn 4.  It's going to cause us some grief, I fear.

Also, I think the entry of the square-oval is going to get a few of us.

This is a tight-waisted race track from the exit of turn 4 to the entry of
turn 1.  I hate square-ovals :)

Don't get a wobblin' down the straight.  The rear is set up real light with
this setup, and if you get yourself wallowing you're going to spin out into
the infield.

Initial tire grip, for the first 10 laps or so, is really excellent.  I
think maybe the tires are going to go fast here, but I'm not sure yet as I
haven't run any sets long enough to find out.

I'll probably do more Texas practice than Daytona.  I've got over 30,000
laps on the SuperSpeedways, so other than adjusting for the fixed setup I'm
pretty good to go there anyway.

I forget what was after Texas, though...

Hell, I forgot 'em ALL...  I was in Buffalo when I posted that.  Daytona,
Texas, and Coca Cola, I think.

Yeah, that's right!  Coca Cola is after Texas.

That one's going to be a blast :)  Need to see how the fast setup holds,
though.  I hope it don't push or we're in for trouble :)

After a race last night, I'm not too encouraged by Coca Cola.  I tried to pass
someone for the lead, clipped the apron, and shot into the wall at 200+,
collecting another driver in the process.  It pissed me off because I try to be
a better driver than that.  With the speeds at this track, things can go bad
FAST, and it's usually fatal.  I hope that everyone(including me) turns enough
laps in traffic here to prepare before the race.

29.30 is a pretty good lap time with the default setup.

Was looking forward to Daytona, but I am going to have to miss it...
will be out of town.  Like Larry, though I am really looking forward
to Texas.

Hard to hit consistently, though, and it's only going to happen in the first
10 or 12 laps.  After that, it doesn't seem to have the grip for it.

Mid 29's are more reasonable.

Should we consider running Arcade Damage ?

No, I just want people to be aware of the 'danger' at that track...  We have a
week or so before that race, so people should have plenty of time to run
against the AI, or online in traffic.
