SCGT: PDPI L4 and T2 w/split axis.... Whats the trick??

by Edwin Solhei » Thu, 06 May 1999 04:00:00

Howdy fellas...

I decided to give SCGT a go... but unfortunatly i cant seem to get the damn
thing to work.. :(

I've got a PDPI L4 game card and a T2 with split axis and I can't get the
thing to "see" all my controls.
Any one able to shed some light on the subject..?

Oh, and while I'm at it... How come the mouse-cursor dissepares at times?
Sometimes (well MOST of the times really) when i start SCGT, the cursor is
completely gone... I can just see it at certain spots on the screen and have
to more or less "trial and error click" to navigate around.

I've got a Hercules Thriller 3d Rendition card and use Driect 3d mode in
SCGT.

Any help would be great!

I think the correct answer here Ed is that Dual Axis support simply doesn't
work in SCGT. You're not the first person who has had problems making it
work. I hope they will address it in a future patch, but we'll see. It's
actually still a lot of fun in single axis mode.

Bzzzzzzzzt!

WRONG!

Dual Axis support works flawlessly for me and I am not the first person who has
had it work.  My MSFF wheel works on dual axis without a hitch in SCGT.  Ed's
problem lies elsewhere, not in the game.  I'm sorry I have no idea what  the
problem is, but to state that the dual axis support simply doesnot work is
erroneous.  Maybe take a look at the T2 dual axis hack/fix/kit/adapter/whatever,
since they don't come that way.

So far, every person I've seen that has dual axis working in SCGT has
mentioned that they use the MSFF wheel. I can't get dual axis to work in
SCGT either, whether I use the Act Labs/PDPI combo, or my Nascar Pro,
both of which work flawlessly in dual axis mode for GPL, Viper, Nascar2,
Nascar99, and any other game I've tried.

Try setting up a second controller but not using the PDPI [L4] options.

Still use the pdpi port but set up another seperate axis controller.
Dont use any of the PdPi [L4] controllers make a custom one and see how u go

Good luck

Another trick might be to map the joystick to the game using the makemap
part of the PDPI utilities

Dual-axis support works perfectly for me to and I've got a TSW hooked up to
a PDPI gamecard. SCGT sees my steering as Joy1-X axis, my throttle as Joy1-Z
axis, and my brake as Joy1-RZ axis. It doesn't have any use for my clutch
pedal though :(.

The difference may be the PDPI card and the fact that I created my own
"custom" controller in the Joystick control panel as a "4 axis, 4 button"
controller. Of course I've also got a switch to convert everything back to
the equivalent of a "2-axis, 4 button" controller if needed for games like
Monster Truck Madness, etc.
