Your FF device needs to be controller ID 1,

i.e. The first/top device listed in Control Panel/Game Controllers
window.

Hope this helps,

Alan

I had this also.  You need Map Y axis forces to X axis set in the
control panel|game controlers|properties.  At least this works with
the full, legal, version

I'm sure all this does is add effects designed for the pedals, hence all the
complaints of pulling one way or another. How do you simply get the wheel to
return to centre. As you start GP3 it turns off the Win 98 force and never
seems to replace it.

I concur.  My legal copy of Grand Prix 3 that I bought yesterday has poor
support for the Saitek R4 Force Feedback steering wheel as follows:

- 95% of all tension in the wheel disappears as soon as the game is loaded
(irrespective of what settings I try in the wheel's control panel).  Tension
returns to the wheel once I exit the game;
- Force Feedback is so weak as to be almost non-existent;
- Cannot map x axis and y axis separately - they must be on the same axis;
- Cannot map button 5 or 6 (which are the two paddles behind the wheel) -
hence cannot use the paddles to change gears

Very unfortunate for such a highly hyped / anticipated game.

I can run all graphical options on at 1280*1024 around Melbourne at an
average of 70%-90% processor occupancy from within the driver's***pit.
Serious slowdowns occur at every first corner, where processor occupancy can
go from anything from 120% - 250%.  Once the first corner is cleared,
performance is good.

My spec is a Pentium III 700 (not overclocked), Asus CUBX motherboard, 196Mb
RAM, 32Mb DDR GeForce 2 GTS

How do you see processor occupancy in the game????

To enable the return to center force, pause the game, unplug the power of
the wheel, plug it in again and unpause the game. The drawback here is you
get the default center force that is set in the wheel itself, not the one
set in control panel. I see no way around this, as you need to suspend GP3
to go to control panel to get those settings, and GP3 will disable the
center force again when go back to it  :-( Fortunately you can make setup
changes and such without having to unplug the wheel again.

You can use the RBjoys program from http://www.racesimcentral.net/ to map your
shifter buttons

It works great on my R4

That's a great feature from Geoff there! ;-)
I too, btw, have no working FF (except the Y->X pulling to one side)
I wonder if Geoff ever played his own game. I really don't think he
likes it anymore.

Funny how FF works absolutely with my Ferrari FF wheel and GP3,
(excepting the slight lag that I get with all games, including GPL)
