N4 performance question

by patrick_17.. » Sat, 10 Feb 2001 00:37:01

I'm running an ancient AMD K6-2 450mhz, with a TNT2 video card.  I'm
wondering if I should bother purchasing N4 to run on such a slow
system.  All of the reviews I've seen out here so far have come from
people with Athlon/PIII 800+ mhz systems.  I would appreciate feedback
from anyone with a "slow" system like mine who has tried N4.

Thanks!
Patrick

It'll run, but I think you will have to run at 800X600 max, and kill off
most of the details.

Watch the mirror.  It really sucks up some fps if you set it to max.

amazingly enough the box claims you only need a P266. (LOL!)
(sounds like a really low form of marketing, doesn't it?)

Note that the "recommended" system spec on the box is now a P3/600
(was 400MHz in info previously released by Papyrus).  Take heed.

The demo ran very smoothly on my P2 350.  25-40 fps with a fair amount of
detail.

It's with other cars on the track that people will run into huge slow downs
in frame rates.

Sorry to say this Don, but you're wrong here.
On 640 res, allmost all details off an set to low, it runs crappy on
my PIII500. Weird enough fps stays allmost the same when I change to a
higher resolution..

And here you're right :)
