N4 & GPL: Memory increase = performance increase ?

by Rob » Thu, 09 Aug 2001 03:01:53

Does anyone know whether an increase in system RAM (128MB to 384MB?) would
improve performance in Papyrus games? Can increasing memory cause problems
running some games (by having 'too much' memory)?
My main interest is in the performance of Nascar 4 and GPL. My current
system specs are:-  PII 450, 128MB RAM, 64MB GeForce2 MX400, 12MB Voodoo II,
2 x 14.4 GB HD.
  Thanks for any advice.

Rob, my system is PII 350 w/V3 3000. I recently increased from 128mb to
256mb RAM with no noticeable difference in GPL. However, given the low cost
of RAM these days, I say go for it. Perhaps it'll be beneficial for N4.

As 'Mr Lugnuts' mentioned, it will be beneficial for N4. When I had 128MB,
there was a slight pause every once in a while. Nothing terrible, just
occasionally annoying. I added another 256MB and the hesitation went away.
Smooth as glass... I dunno what it was doing, but it worked. (Rest of
system: P3 1GHz, 64MB GeForce2 GTS, etc)
