Geez Jan, I've been using a Stealth II for a couple of months and it runs
N2 and TPTCC just fine...Of course I haven't done NROS but I have heard the
Rendition version of Nros is not as stable...but I guess I need to ask what
drivers are you using....I've got the .105's and they seem pretty stable.

I have bought a Stealth2 recently as well and I felt as you do at first. I got
everything straight tho and I'm very happy with the card now.

Get the latest drivers from Diamond's website.
Pay particular attention to how you install the drivers.
set the plain VGA driver first, reboot
it will probably go to safe mode, set the plain VGA driver again.
reboot to normal mode
install the new in controll tools

Do a scandisk and defrag before installing the drivers, set virtual memory to
1 first. then turn it back to Win95 after.

you might need v2kdosfix on the dos games to get running in dos mode
rredline patch if your monitor doesnt support high refresh rates

there is a openGL driver on the rendition site that makes Quake2 look very nice

it's a good card, it's just a pain to get it going sometimes
there are also Win95 updates that you might want to look into if your not
running 95b

I have the same card just installed it 2 weeks ago. At first I was
having the same problem but called tech support, ((which seems to be a
good idea for a few pennies i can get results form people who know
instead of beating my brains out))well i have no problems at all now I
just start the game in the RENDITION mode and all is well, oh for
everyone's information you will post times slightly slower in rendition
mode the normal, there is a bug which causes your car to lose traction
for some reason, but im informed by N2 that a patch is on the way.

Thanks to all who replied, it gives me a bit of hope that *MAYBE* I'll get
this thing running right.  I've went through so many different variations, trying
to get things running right, and the DS techs were absolutely no help whatsoever,
that's part of the reason I'd like to *** one right now...

Here's the info that I gave Dave Noonan, perhaps you all might see where my
problem lies...and Dave H, I'm using the latest .105s...

***Occasional lockups on a reboot (comes up with the wrong graphics mode, have
to do a full shutdown power-off and reboot before it comes back ok).  As well,
on shutdown will lock up about once out of 3 times...won't come up with the
"it's now ok to turn off your machine" screen.
***NASCAR2.exe runs about once out of 5 times...it locks up before showing the
papy screen, full reboot required.
***NASCAR2 Rendtion also has occasional problems...will occasionally lock up
on the start.  What's worse than this is the fact when racing, it occasionally
reboots the machine.  I've been trying to find out what simularities are causing
this problem, I've done all the recommended settings to the properties of the
NASCAR2 Rendition and NROS Rendition files.  (Set the memory allowance
higher, and tell it to protect memory areas.)  It seems to reboot the machine
after about 10-15 min of racing, I can detect no other simularities in the time
that it reboots.  And as well, it will also let me run an entire race without
rebooting!  This last reboot problem seemed to get much worse with the latest
series of drivers, I didn't have this problem so bad with the earlier ones.
***As well, other DOS games (command and conquer, Warcraft II) have a horrendous
time for me to try to run them, lock ups, general protection faults, ect.  Cannot
seem to do anything to get rid of them.
***Also occasional strange problems when trying to load some of the converted N2
tracks (haven't noticed this problem *yet* with the original N2 tracks).  Gets error
message "cannot load complete track description", much as if you created a bad
..dat file, deleted the .txt file, ect.  However, there was nothing done to the track,
one day it works great, the next it doesn't work!  Strangely enough, I can delete
some things and it will seem to work ok (sometimes), however, for our latest Vancouver
race, I was able to run Rendition yesterday, today I cannot load the tracks (others
besides Vancouver as well) to save my life!  I DID run in SVGA mode yesterday,
so I'm not sure if that is somehow doing something to the sim that's causing
this problem.

I really hope you all may have some ideas on this, I'm so tired of screwing with this
thing that I'll probably use it as a bookend if I can't fix it.  I really like it for the native
Win95 stuff, F1RS and TOCA, Xwing vs TIE fighter all run excellent!  I have full hardware
accelleration on in XvT, full detail, and even in a milling battle of 20 TIE fighters, it works superbly.

The rest of my specs are this...AMD motherboard (P166MMX processor),
Soundblaster AWE64 card, 32 meg RAM, older IBM SVGA (PS/1) monitor.
This monitor will not run much higher than 65-70 hz refresh, but I was told that
this wouldn't cause the problems I've been having...

Cheers!

I had the exact same prog. So I returned it and bought a hercules thriller 3d v2200
card. Five minutes later installed and no probs. Works perfect with the creative
labs v2. Good luck.
