Wallridng Fix still sux.
I don't know what you think, but the wall riding hack fix that PAPY
introduced in n4's 1st patch is still in 2002 and it SUX...  I do like that
the walls seem
stickier at all tracks...  But, I can Not believe we cant just have the wall
rip the
***out of the fender & tire.  Nope, instead it is creating a ROLLING
ROADBLOCK by
keeping the Walriding CLOWN in the race but at less than 1/2 speed down the
following straightway!!  Jesus Chrysler Papy!!

Still cant save a race in progress...  I sure would like to get to run more
than just 20 lappers to the end even though my life may only allow a few
minutes at a time to get in the car (so to speak).

wish a guy could setup an Offline race with xx numbers of laps to go, with
xx% fuel laps been run on tires and caution just came out... (pace car
leading to turn3, you decide to stay or pit... )  You know a scenario editor
or something.  It cant be that hard really yeah it might take a few minutes
for the game to calculate the race from beginning to this point in the race

No, we get (yawn) Ol' DW showing me how to get around the track...

Hmmm, I haven't had a problem with this in N4 or NR2002. Maybe I stay off
the walls better...

Hmmmm, Papy said this feature was gone in N4. I guess that's why they didn't
put it in the new version...

Probably should get the Hasbro game for that, NR2002 is a sim...

Yeah, I guess adding something in to help out the newbies get up to speed is
pretty much a waste. Of course if they use the lesson feature, they may be
able to stay off the walls, hehe.

You're nitpicking or just want to post to post.  First, find a good group of
folks to drive with and you eliminate the wall riding.  If you're expecting
something special, some kind of great race with clean racers, with an open
game, forget it.  It just won't happen.

Big deal.  It doesn't look like Papyrus will ever include a save feature in
their game.  You might as well get used to it.

I don't know, this seems kind of silly and arcadish.  After all, the Nascar
series is not Grand Theft Auto.

It appears that you're not pleased with N2002 or the Nascar series in
general.  That of course is your prerogative.  The best thing you could do
is not buy the game, if you think something's missing.

In all it just seems like you're digging awfully deep to find things wrong
with N2002.  All things considered, there isn't much wrong with N2002.

In all fairness... that so called fix Papy made for N4 (and apparenly now
for N2002 ) is very poor - infact it's downright dangerous...  It has for me
and probably a lot of others ruined some of the more challenging tracks in
Nascar...     Take Darlington for instance...  completely unraceable after
that patch.

They could have solved this a whole lot better imho.

The problem isn't when *you* hit the wall, it's when someone in front
of you does, and because the wallriding penalty immediately and
abruptly causes their speed to drop down by 50mph and holds it there
for about 10 seconds you don't have time to react and POW 10 care
pileup.

The only time I find it annoying when it happens to me is when I do a
little wall brush coming out of 4 at rockingham or out of 2 at
darlington, like the real drivers do (in order to turn fast laps at
those tracks you need to be literally against the wall exiting those
turns) and maybe once in every 100 laps the wallriding penalty will
kick in and I'll be so startled I either hit the wall again, but
harder, or lose the rear and go spinning down the straightaway.  That
is, assuming someone isn't behind me and can't stop in time.

There has to be a better way to manage wallriding than adding a
feature that, while fixing the problem, also penalizes you sometimes
for driving perfectly realistic lines through certain corners.  There
should be an option to turn it off, at the very least.  I mean, when
I'm driving against the AI or in a league race (the only online racing
worth doing) there is no logical reason for the wall-riding fix to
kick in.

I don't understand the big deal about the save race feature.  If you
don't have time to run a 100% race, then why are you trying to run a
100% race?  The entire purpose of the races being 400-600 laps/miles
is to test your endurance.  If you want to race for 1-2 hours then use
a more reasonable length, like 35-50%.  35% is what I use for my
championship seasons since it requires at least 1 pit stop but also
only takes an hour or two to complete.

I doubt it.  N4 came with replays which were perfectly good starting
points for learning the tracks and people still suck.

Good point, but what would be a better solution then? I sure as hell
hate the railriders at Monza in GPL, and I guess it was even worse in
the beginning of N4 online without the wallriding penalty..

N4 & 2002 model tire wear and failure, so why not just cook or flat the tires that contact the wall if done with enough force, or
introduce some speed-robbing aero damage?  Wouldn't stop 'em in their tracks like now, but it might make 'em respect those walls a
bit... ;-)

I don't know where you race GPL but on VROC I have raced since the day it
was created and have raced a rail rider maybe once or twice. They are very
few and far between, it's not even a problem in GPL but then again, it takes
a much higher class of driver to drive GPL than N4.

As for N4/2k2, why don't they just use the same thing they had in N3? You
hit the wall and you stick like glue for a bit and get slowed down quite a
bit, but once you get off the wall you can power it back up to speed like
normal.

True, I don't encounter them often, but when I see them I hope they
explode on spot. Rail/wallriders should be punished heavily.

But then you would have the same problems Jason is describing, a
wallrider would cause a pile-up because he suddenly slows down with a
pack of cars behind him...

It does? I must be a f**king idiot, then, because I drive N4. That *is* what

The level of maturity has always seemed higher in GPL.  Does that ease your crack?  You don't see
many at all intentional wreckers in GPL like you do in the Nascar sims.  Call it whatever you want
but thats the fact Jack.
