GPL and Teamspeak?

Anyone every use this voice com software with GPL?  Tried Google and see where
some tried Roger Wilco with GPL a while back with mixed results.  Would like to
use it or something like it for a league if it's reasonably easy to setup and use.

I haven't played racing games online, but have used TS with other
games with very good result. It has better sound quality than RW and
has great admin options.

Didn't some of the Rascar guys use Teamspeak during the last(nr 2003)
race?  Provided you have the bandwidth to spare and hopefully have a 3rd
party computer to host the TS session, it should not degrade GPL much at
all since GPL is very good about conserving bandwidth.

The RASCAR posts from the last race got me thinking about it.  We have a couple
people on dialup so would probably have to use the low bandwidth codecs.  Was
hoping to be able to run the server from a 2nd box on my lan, gpl server is
remote, so my cable modem would just have to handle the TS server and one gpl
client (plus possibly my TS client?).  Cable gives about 256Kb/s up most of the
time, hopefully this will be enough.

Was just wondering if there were any specific experience with TS, dialup, and GPL.

I've had problems with a dedicated TS server disconnecting us after a period
of time or when someone else would join when the server was behind a
software firewall. We went to ventrilo and the sound quality and relieablity
is good so if you are going to try something, I would recommend trying that
program instead ...

BTW, these problems occurred with NR4, NR2002, NR2003 ...

Yes, some of us have been using TS for the last seven races since things,
uh, changed. :-) Works great. More of the drivers are using it with each
race.

We use Roger Wilco and GPL weekly with 3 persons online.
No problems at all.

On my three computer LAN I have gone from TeamSound to Teamspeak and
just within the last week to Ventrilo ( www.ventrilo.com ). I'd put
TeamSound last, Teamspeak 2nd and Ventrilo definitely first. The sound
quality of Ventrilo was head and shoulders above the other two.

This is on a LAN with pretty much unlimited bandwidth though. Not sure
how Ventrilo would work over the 'net.

The big plus for me is that TeamSpeak has both a Linux server and
client available. Does Ventrilo offer a Linux client?

Cheers,
