next Friday night? I haven't used TS before so I don't know where to look
for getting connected.

Dave,
Fire up TS and select the Connect menu. Then click on Connect and
chose the "Web Servers" (or whatever it is called) page. This page
has some command buttons along the bottom: chose the Change Filters
button. One of the options is to see ONLY Public servers. Pick a
server that's geographically close and has a high enough Max users
count.
Open a private channel with a password.
Tell everyone else the server, the channel name and the channel
password.
HTH,

Ok, dumb question - where do you get TeamSpeak?

When our Teamspeak server is down we would occasionally use the public
servers listed as "public servers" 1-3 on the right side of the page I
listed above.
It really adds to the racing experience IMO. Feels nekid without it now ;)
Mitch
Ok, thanks. Now I just have to figure out how to USE it...

Me too, I used Roger Wilco years ago and that seemed to work fine, but
TS is broadcasting my voice not only to the server but back thru my
speakers.
My son doesn't have this problem, his is more what I'd call NORMAL.
:)

In Teamspeak I disable voice activation and "disable all sounds".
In the Creative Volume Control I set the output to microphone. Occasionally
it dynamically changes back to "what you hear" but that's likely a All in
Wonder/Windows Media encoder issue and not related to TS.
One time shortly after a windows re-install others were mentioning I had a
feedback issue. Meaning they heard my engine quite loud instead of my
voice. Not sure what caused this though as it's been ok since.
