RASETCC - TeamSpeak

OK, I installed TS on my computer this morning. A quick test on a
public server site let me hear the other particpants, but not yet
having a microphone, I was unable to test the "send" function.

I set my router to forward the port (I forget the number right now)
as recommended in the manual, and I set my firewall to allow the
program in and out rights.

Is that all there is to it? (Other than connecting the mike?)

Any recommendations for a decent yet inexpensive microphone? I have a
good set of Koss headphone that I use when I don't want the waken the
dead as I blast up the Mulsanne Straight, so I'm going to try to use
a "stand-alone" mike instead of one of those headset combos.

TIA,

I use a labtech throat mic. I also don't like headsets and TS works great
even on the Mulsanne straight :)

Here's the thread that will direct you to the RASCAR server for TS. It seems
to be up nearly all the time but I'm a strict novice in this area. The
default settings worked great for me except for one - on the
settings/options/sound devices tab, I changed sound driver from wave to
direct sound and this fixed all my problems (thx Jurjen).

I've never had to forward any ports, and I've got a pretty hard-core
hardware firewall.  If you are just a client, should not be needed.

Actually, it's a normal noise-cancelling mic, it's just that it's held on a
neckband and sticks up as opposed to being held by a headband and pointing
down. Reasons you can't understand me include (a) I had a problem with the
sound device setting - now fixed and (b) I am naturally unintelligible. The
smart money's on the latter ;)

Same here. I have a linux box firewalling my home LAN, and TS (as a
client) worked without opening any ports.
