Anyone have an opinion regarding 3d video cards? Do they improve
NASCAR gameplay? Can you use the carsets with the "special" versions
of NASCAR that come with each card? Thanks

I run the MX (Matrox) version of NASCAR with my Matrox Millenia video
card and 4MB WRAM in SVGA mode and there is a huge difference vs.
regular SVGA! Of course, I also have the P133 w/ 16MB EDO, but when
it's all put together you can't believe the graphics. It truly is the
next best thing to being there. Now if they could only get Hawaii in
the 3D mode.

What do you mean "the Matrox version of Nascar"? Where do you get
that? And what the hell is this WRAM anyways, yous guys?

The Matrox version of Nascar Racing is a special optimized for Matrox version
of Nascar that ships with the Matrox MGA Millenium card. It's sooo much
faster than the commercial Nascar game. I get all details (except track
texture) at 30 fps with everything set to auto.
WRAM: I think the big difference between WRAM and DRAM/VRAM is that it can be
clocked about twice as fast which means that you can get higher refresh rates
I didn't even know the card came with the Nascar game, but when I found it on
the CD, I was pleasantly surprised!

Papyrus created a version of NASCAR Racing to take advantage of the Matrox
Millenium's 3d capabilities, and WRAM or Windowed RAM is made by Matrox, and is
exclusive to matrox cards

Excuse me, I think Samsung invented the WRAM, not Matrox

WRAM is a proprietary design of Samsung who are world leader in DRAM at
the moment (at least in terms of volume sales). Although it's a good
design, since it's proprietary I doubt the prices will fall sufficiently
for it to establish a good market hold. Expect S-DRAM and BEDO-DRAM to
become more prevalent in the coming months.
Cheers!

Well I have only seen Matrox using it, and I thought I read somewhere that they made
it
