I am sorry to be so late in posting my revised data for the DRIVERS2.TXT
file. I have been experimenting with a slightly different means of
generating the figures. I am still using the fastest lap for each
driver from all of the races so far this season. I have had some
feedback about the traction numbers being too high. I have lowered them
somewhat, but I don't really want them to be too low as this number
really affects the AI's ability to drive a track.
I have done extensive testing of this data at Nazareth to see how it
shakes up. There are a couple of surprising driver performances. Poor
Emmo still doesn't fair well very often. This is due to his less than
stellar performances in the earlier races. And a couple of drivers do
alot better than expected.
For Nazareth, the field produced by this data may be too strong for some
of us (it is for me). Due to the way the program calculates overall
speeds and times for this track I think the RELS number is off in the
NAZARETH.TXT file. The track in the game is 0.9872 miles in length,
thus the speeds are off by 1.28%. Anyway, if you feel that the field is
too strong at NAZARETH, I would suggest changing the RELS number in the
NAZARETH.TXT file to 96 (this is only 1% less than the original number).
This should provide a field very similar to the race run this last
weekend. If you really want to recreate the race, change the BLAP
number to 19115. This should translate to a top qualifying speed of
190.737 mph (Tracy's track record breaking qualifying speed). By the
way, this is also the number to use to simulate the track record in the
RECORDS.TXT file.
Any of you race jockeys man enough to take on this field at NAZARETH?
