3-D Card

Hi,

When purchasing a new system e.g., Micron P200, I can usually upgrade to
a video card such as Diamond Stealth 64 with 4mb of Vram but I haven't
seen any option for a 3-D card.  Will the Daimond card suffice for ICR2
and NASCAR II?

John

I've had a Diamond Stealth 64 w/ 4MB of VRAM for quite some time and was
pleased with the performance. But once you've seen what the Rendition-based
boards can do for ICR2 or NASCAR2, you'll never be satisifed with anything
less. For about the same price you would pay for a tricked out Diamond
Stealth, you can get a Rendition board. The only drawback is that you don't
get full use of the 4MB of video memory in 2D modes. For example, the
1024x768 mode is only 16-bit, though theoretically with 4MB you should be
able to get 24-bit color. Doesn't bother me, because I don't do any
sophisticated graphics editing that requires that kind of resolution.
