ICR2 & Thriller 3-D

Hi all,

I *just* got my Thriller 3-D 8-meg card installed, and it is AWESOME in
Nascar 2 and Soda (to name a few).  My problem is with Indy Car Racing 2.
It won't load in rendition mode.  It says something like "v1000 chip not
found".  Is there a patch or work around for this?  Every other program that
I have tried so far seems to be running GREAT!  I remember hearing that
there was some trouble getting ICR2 to run with the new Rendition chips, but
I am wondering if anyone has any ideas.

Thanks,

I saw in the latest PCGamer a patch called ICR2_V2K.zip.....It adds support
for the the 2000 series chips. It was a beta patch. It may be worth buying
the magazine since its on the CDRom. I couldn't find it on their site.

I did get the patch from The Adrenaline Vault's web site, but it's not
working. :-(

I read and followed the readme.txt file, but when I try to run ICR2 all I
get are some colored lines at the top of the screen, but the sound works
fine.  I have tried it several ways, including running in pure DOS.  From
the info at Adrenaline's site, Rendition is the manufacturer of the patch.
I checked their web site, but can't find any e-mail address for tech
support.

Any ideas anyone???

Don't bother with that patch.  I don't think any V2x00 user has been
able to run Rendition Ready ICR2 with it. There are two ways that I've
been able to run ICR2 on my Stealth II:  first, I can run indysafe.bat
through Windows 95;  and second, I can run indyfast.bat through DOS
using the v2dosfix utility, a program that allows the V2x00 cards to
run Speedy 3D games through DOS instead of Windows.  You can find
v2dosfix.zip at Bjorn's 3D World:

Thanks for the tip, Ed.  I have been trying to use the ICR2 patch with *NO*
luck, so maybe the v2dosfix utility will be the way to go.  Thanks again!

Ed,
Just curious....when you run ICR2 with indyfast in DOS.......how are your
mirrors and dash? Correct?  (I'm talking without any other patch being used
with the v2dosfix)

The mirrors are messed up.  Is there a fix for this?

Yup....but it's complicated and there are other side effects. (minor
graphics but still there.)  It's a deal were you have to have that
Indycar2.exe and spd.uc from the indy patch and load the game first with
the original spd3d.uc then quit and restart by loading the spd3d.uc from
the patch to get it to work. Could send you a bat file I made to do this
for you  ...if you want to give it a try. Also a couple of other things you
have to do also. Email me if you want more on this.

The problem is the microcode file that doesnt initialize the V2000. Run the
patch that you downloaded first with the old spd3d.uc that came with the
rendition version for the V1000 boards (or the one from N2). You will see that
the mirrors are messed up and the upper part of the***pit is missing. Then
copy the spd3d.uc that came with the V2000 patch into the ICR2 directory and
start it anew. Then all works fine. You have to do this in pure DOS not in a
DOS box! You can create a batch file for automatically doing this.

Have fun!
