I have just downloaded and installed the new drivers for the V3. The new
alpha blending is awesome. Absolutely no 'screen door pattern', smoke looks
very much better now in GPL. They say, there is a performance increase of
some % also, but I can't verify this for GPL because I don't want to go back
to the old drivers and check fps (too lazy ;-)). At least I have not
detected any performance decrease.
The drivers are not downloadable from 3dfx yet, because they want to include
some documentation which is not ready yet, but you can get them from:

I have these links from alt.games.3dfx and they say, these are NOT beta
drivers.

For what its worth, just by chance last night I was benchmarking Viper
Racing with all detail turned on and I was getting around 60.3 on the frames
per second count.  I just downloaded the new drivers and went to benchmark
again in hopes that I would see an increase.  Well I'm now getting 53.4 on
the count.  And High Heat Baseball locked up for the first time ever.  Not
good.  So I re-installed the drivers from the cdrom, but unfortunately I'm
still getting the same 53.x frame rate count.  Is there a way I can totally
erase all voodoo files and do a fresh install of the original driver?  Hope
you have better luck.
