Just got mine today and been tweaking for about 2 hours now, but can't seem
to get it "right".

Which settings do you use for playing GPL?? -Both in Game Controller
Properties and core.ini??

Any help appreciated, -thanks.

I'm using some settings based on those posted by simonp but tweaked
the max_steering_torque so that I don't get such an arm workout fighting
the wheel.

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping = 60.000000      ; force feedback damping coefficient
force_feedback_latency = 0.025000       ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 155.000000        ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force

Simon's original setting had higher torque forces if you really want an arm
workout here it is:
;max_steering_torque = 85.000000        ; steering torque in N*in giving max device force

Also in the Game Controller Panel I have all the forces set at 100% and
*especially* make sure you turn off the "Enable Centering Springs in
Force Feedback Games" feature, since in GPL this really muddies up the
force feedback feel.

This combo gives me very good noticeable feel for what the car is doing
without having to fight the wheel to control the car too much.

Hope that helps.

Seeyas on the track.

All forces set to 150%.  No centering force.  Right now I am using the
standard GPL1.1 ini setup for the FF.  Also using the 3.20 software for the
Logitech.  I think its www.wingmanteam.com has the new drivers, etc.

As Joe Marques had some thigns to say about the MSFF wheel, but might apply
well to the LWFF but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.  Here's his
post
------------------------

I picked up the MSFF (which I will compare to the LWFF I ordered and return
the loser) because FF is the rage since GPL 1.1.  When I first fired up the
wheel I left "force feedback" and "return to center" set to high in the
sidewinder control panel and didn't change any core.ini settings.  I also
had the linear slider in GPL set in the middle.  Well to say I wasn't
impressed is a gross  understatement.  After ALL the hype I thought this
just can't be what you were all raving about.  The wheel was far too stiff
and the weight and inertia effects seemed slightly delayed (out of sync) and
more detrimental than useful to driving.  Discouraged, I decided to
experiment with the settings.  I turned off "return to center" in the
sidewinder control panel and INCREASED max torque in the core.ini to 275
which actually reduced the forces in the game (max_steering_torque =
275.000000).  This gave me the ideal blend of subtle yet useful FF, however,
the laggy response remained.  I thought the culprit might be the linear
slider.  I moved the linear slider completely toward linear to see if a
linear steering wheel would improve FF response.  WOW!  The FF felt perfect.
The FF effects were immediate, appropriate and AMAZING.

I could now feel almost every inch of the cars movement.  The weight, the
inertia and the grip were all relayed through this amazing FF process.  Now
you could see and FEEL the car swing left and right in perfect sync with
your input.  GPL+FF=Ultimate Immersion.  The tactile feedback of the wheel
is the perfect compliment to the "2D" visual and auditory data.  It is the
missing 3rd dimension and certainly is a far cry from the useless gimmick I
once thought of FF.  So if your experience of GPL FF isn't what you had
hoped, don't be discouraged.  Experiment with the settings, since this can
make a world of difference.

Ouch - I don't know how you can use such a low latency. I tried it and
everything felt out of sync. The default is much better IMO.

Here is what i use Jan,

[ Joy ]
allow_force_feedback = 1                ; Use FF if device has it
force_feedback_damping = 60.000000      ; force feedback damping coefficient
force_feedback_latency = 0.000010       ; force feedback latency (secs)
max_steering_torque = 10.000000        ; steering torque in N*in giving max
device force

With overall effects strength set to 50% in the Wingman profiler. Centering
spring turned off.Setting the effects in the core.ini is more precise.

Correction:
I tried it - the 50% setting makes this setup quite soft. Since I also
use othet FF-sims (believe it or not), I stayed with 100% in
Wingman-setup and use about 400.000 in core.ini

Hi Jan,

I left the wingman setup at default setting. Only unchecked the box
"combined axis", which changes to split axis.

In GPL I go for much lower strength, i.e. 420.0000 in the moment. The
rest I left unchanged.
The biggest achievement in improving my laptimes I gained by switching
off FF  :-)   , driving with FF is really hard.
