Just ONE problem...and you sorta touched on it...the Licensing...The Indy
track is owned by that spawn of Satan and has not played ball with Papy for
some years now.
Seen a comercial release of Indy for N2??  Ever see the comercial release of
Indy for Indycar Racing 2?  Is it on the updated Cart Racing....ixnay!
As long as Sega keeps passing out the cash to the Indy and Daytona Folks...we
simmers won't see that kind of effort...

I just love the GPL Demo and I plan on losing more than one hour of sleep
playing the final version, but is there any way that we can take this retro
theme a step further and produce an Indianapolis 500 sim based in the '60's
also??  I know licensing agreements etc would be a ***, but I think that
it would be the coolest!!  Anyone agree??

BTW, why is Indy under license by Sega? Daytona I can understand but
is Indianapolis included in one of their "sims"? Or is it just to
irritate people (just like most of their PC games).

AFAIK, Sega of America made an arcade title called "indy500".

It's a arcade racing game very close to DaytonaUSA, but with the actual
Indianapolis track, and another one that I don't remember the name.  The
track is the real one (and not fake, like the DaytonaUSA track), but the
game engine and physics are totally unreal.  It's still a fun to drive.  The
title is almost 2years old already (I recall racing it at RaceRock
restaurant back X-mas 1996).

Oh, and yes, it's also to irritate people, IMHO.  (btw, my brother went home
with ManxTT, and yes, I never saw a bad racing game like this one, even C:PR
is better <choke>!).

Hey, you would think at this point in time CUC software who owns Sierra who
owns Papyrus would be big enough to buy up Sega and their liscences and
finally get rid of them.  Who needs another release of Virtua Cop anyway?

Not after last Thurs's Cendant (NYSE: CD) disaster. :-) Cendant was
almost twice as big on Tues as it ended up on Thursday. Ouch...
