Hello,

First off, let me thank you for providing such an excellent racing sim in
Nascar Racing.  I am an avid fan of Winston Cup racing and this satisfies my
hunger to race!  I have a couple of suggestions that could probably be
implemented fairly easily with a future patch release and would greatly
enhance realism and game play.

1.  Computer car AI - Although you have greatly enhanced this area in version
1.21 it still needs a little tweaking.  My only real complaint is that if you
have the inside posistion on a track, below the groove, and the computer cars
are above you and the groove will be coming down to meet you, they often slam
into you causing an accident.  The cars need to either drive door to door, or
back off and go behind you.  I get frustrated sometimes when a race is ruined
because some stupid computer car slams into you following "the groove".  I
would think that this would be easier to fix than the old problem of lapped
cars slowing down the unlapped cars.

2.  Please provide a "spotter".  It bums me out when I don't know where the
caution flag is coming from, and keep flying around and end up running into an
accident.  Yes, I could slow down, but I would then lose positions when the
computer cars are racing to the line.  If the accident is at the start/finish
line you are done for the day.  Again, this doesn't have to be anything
spectacular, you could implement it the same way you do the messages about
laps to green and pit closed messages.  Just say wreck in Turn 1 or something.

Again awesome game and I hope you could implement these small enhancements in
a furture patch, hopefully soon.  Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Todd

I would add that there needs to be a "tow truck" option in the game.  There
is no reason why you can be towed back to the garage to do repairs to get back
in, even if you are 20 laps down.

It's not too realistic, but if I REALLY want to know where the accident
is, I pause the game and check out the replay.  It's just as realistic
as having to pause the game to send e-mail to my pit crew for my next
pit stop ;-)

How about a few more pace laps to warm up the tires.  I have a few great
setups *once the tires are warm* that get me killed in AI traffic on the
initial start just because the tires are cold.

Also in the preseason session it would be nice if you could have a
diagnostic recorder that would keep track of each lap speed/time, fuel
used, tire temperature at the end of the lap, and also tire wear experienced.
Perhaps a note with the highest the tach got on that lap would be another
nice thing to note.

It's not a cheat, its just the way the game reads buttons.  I think if you
can't keep your foot from snapping to the floor with being gradual, it's
your driving style that's costing you time.  So it happens to be easier
with a button.  So what?  Is there a lack of buttons on your PC?

I've done a fair ammount of modem racing and have tested it, in every
case with the same setup the buttons were a huge advantage. Modem
racing with F1GP the buttons were faster at 1st but you paid the price
later with quicker tire wear. Tires in NASCAR last longer with the
buttons. I'm sure driving style plays a role. It will be interesting
to see what happens with the network. Even if digital isn't faster on
lap times, fewer pit stops and less chance of smash ups ( especially
after yellows when tires are cold ) will probably prove enough of an
advantage.
Hope I'm wrong, it wouldn't be the 1st time. I'd rather use analog
because it seems to come much closer to simulating a stock car.
