GPL Demo problems (not the usual)

by John Courtn » Sat, 12 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Hi,
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this problem before.  I finally
got my new computer last night and tonight I got back on the net with my
new computer!  Of course I downloaded the GPL demo right away.  I was
expecting problems with Win98 so I followed the instructions to try and
setup the demo.  When I double clicked on the GPL icon, the splash screen
displayed, I heard my modem click and a dialog box appeared asking me to
connect to my internet account! (the game returned to windows after
that!).  I tried installing the demo the "normal" way after trying the
"win98 fix" a few times, the game loaded fine this time (may have been a
little slow), my modem still clicked at start up however.  As I expected
the sound was grabled in the demo, the graphics seemed to move quite
smoothly though.  Does the final version do this modem thing? (I suspect
it is the wininet.dll file I had to copy in the win98 fix)

Thanks,
John

P.S.  Another weird thing I'am noticing when connecting to my account:
When I connect I can't save my password (I have to type it in every time
I connect, I didn't have this problem in Win95).  The whole "Save
Pasword" checkbox is disabled.
