Well, you are forgetting the Online obstacles. That is, the other 17
people who dance like spiders with each other in the air while I try
to avoid them.
Hockenheim (in more modern sims) sometimes gives me that impression.
But in gpl, Silverstone, Rouen, Monaco, Kyalami, and a few others bore
me more. I think because they are hard to get a good rhythm on (at
least for me). And Mexico might be better except the tires pop up a
tad late on my system- like, when you are right on them. Ruins it for
me.
I like Watkins Glen, Zandvoort, Monza, Spa... and I also like this new
one, Osterring (sp), which has some very challenging braking to it-
deep in curves, etc. And I don't mind the darn poles as much as the
tires at Mexico!
Anyway, Monza has something indefineable- I think it is in it's
rhythm, which really allows one to lock in to it.
Keep in mind Monza is fun online because it is not as chaotic for
sparring with other cars, and passing is not too difficult.
Re: ovals- I am not a fan of ovals racing- well, except for Indy and
Michigan, perhaps- where a sort of "quantity is its own quality" thing
takes over... but in general, I think they are racers tracks. They are
all about the minutae of interaction with other drivers that is
apparent from behind the wheel, but hardly apparent to the audience.
And the idea of just trying to break records on ovals- or even
qualifying- is too tedious for me.
