Don't know about your laptimes at the ring. But to get a really frustrating
experience, just compare your hottest lap with Greger's (Using Spygirl and this
"synchronize  before each corner").
I found out that he goes faster than me through any corner, not to mention the
ones I spin out or make a mistake. (At least I found that my main problem is the
corner exit speed)

See you

Jens

Hell the left hander before the hairpin at Rouen is enough to kill ya. And
how about having water coming down the Karussel at the ring? That would be
interesting

So do you all actually want to see rain in this game!?

For me, it's hard enough as it is. I guess rain would be an interesting
gimmick for impressing your friends who think they "rule all gamez", but I
forecast that rain-races on Vroc will be very desolate.

I'd rather see any programming effort turned on other things, like decent
physics, errr, decent GFX, errr.... Dman, GPL has all!!
A few new tracks would be nice, IMHO. So bring out the trackeditor!! :-)

To simulate rain in GPL: leave out the contacts lenses, and drive your Spa
setup at Monaco. Works great with heavy astigmatism and myopia.

Michael.

Lol,

If I leave out the lenses, I'll be having difficulty finding the steering
wheel, let alone finding my way around the Ring...

If anyone has tried it, and want more of that ("rain" simulation, I mean),
well, try doing it with a 30/85 diff. You should be cured of your
rain-desire forever.

says...

I've done that, and some bits are OK, my worst section is the downhill
twisty section Kallenhard->Ex-Muhle. The hedges either side make me
really nervous as you only need to touch them to get embedded and
completely ruin your lap. That makes me a good 3-4 seconds slower than I
should be through there.

Oh no! I'm glad there's no rain!
When going into your final lap leading at the ring suddenly rain starts to
drop...

Now now- remember, CART actually demands more versatility from the
drivers than F1-  to be an F1 champ, you only need to do be an expert
in pristine manicured courses. Sure, there is Monaco- but you can blow
that. In CART, you have to be a street racer, because there are six of
them: Toronto, Vancouver, Houston, Surfers, Detroit, Long Beach.
On top of that, you need to be a high-speed ovals racer, short ovals
racer, pristine course racer... hell, even an airport runway racer!

I do get sick of the short ovals though. I can handle really only two
ovals- Michigan and Indianapolis (which has been off my list for 5
years now).

by Peter Hoope » Fri, 03 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I would agree with that but with that fact in mind why do you think most
CART racers tend to struggle when they come over to F1. Although it doesn't
happen very often those that have done haven't had much success. Jacques
Villeneuve obviously being the exception although this can probably be put
down to his grounding in European racing prior to going to CART.

Zanardi had a nightmare last year and despite some of this being down to a
not very competetive car he was blown away by Ralf Schumacher almost every
time they got in the car.

Cheers

Peter Hooper
