GPL questions from a newbie

I've recently finished updating my systems and linking my 2 simulators for side
by side racing. Decided to give GPL a try. Bought it, loaded it, tried it. I
seem to have 2 problems. First, I have nVidia cards, not 3dFX. In software
mode, the graphics really suck. Is there a way to use around this? Second, I
use 2 Logitech FF wheels (the good old red ones). It seems the game loses the
calibration of the wheel when I switch between practice and race screens. I
have to keep recalibrating. Anybody els ever have this?

TIA
Bill

Go here and get the patches you need  http://www.papy.com/    1.2 patch,
Direct3D patch, if your cpu is is faster than 1.4g you need the CPU Speed
fix, etc.........

I always wondered.. what happens if your processor is say... 1.2GHz and you
apply that fast CPU patch. Does stuff mess up?

Cause I have an AMD 1700, which is like 1.3Ghz or something, but performs at
approximately Pentium 1.7GHZ standards..

A 1700+ actually runs at 1.46, last I checked...so you technically should
need the patch...I know my 2000+ did (1.67GHz, though.)

No. I have the patch on my Pentium3 1Ghz. I have seen others recommend the
patch on slow systems. Can't remember exactly why, could it fix other minor
problems as well?

No. you can add the patch to any CPU speed. It just specifically sorts
things out for those over a certain speed for for the others it just
ignores the fix.

Download the D3d patch and calibrate your wheel under Logitechs calibration
utility

My 1700XP needed the patch.  IIRS, GPL was running super-slow (or was it
super-fast?) without the patch.

The practice setup is not the race setup. But you probably thought of
that...

Setup has nothing to do with re-callibrating a wheel...
