GeForce 128 Ti card and another 256mb of memory - and have (thanks to the
Nachi worm) started from scratch and moved from W98SE to WXPpro.
After installing my essential applications (Word, PSP, Nero and so forth) I
decided that I really didn't want to install all the collection of ***
which I'd accumulated over the past three years and had cut to CD. I'd
rarely used some of the stuff so what was the point.
However, apart from GPL, which sits on its own drive (and has done so for
almost five years) and has become a fixture, I rummaged through my
collection of sims and, as well as re-installing NASCAR2003, I thought I'd
reincarnate NASCAR Legends - just to see how it compares some three years
down the track.
You know what? I love it!! :)
I can run it with everything set at maximum and the action is as sm-o-o-o-th
as liquid silk and it is great fun.
What also appeals is that I can run a full-length race and save it's
progress anywhere I like and this is a function which, for those of us who
play solo and against the AI, is sorely missed in today's racing sims (I
won't mention GPL :) ).
You know, there are times when ultra-realistic graphics, with all their
bells & whistles, really are just not all that important when it comes to
enjoying a game.
