Graphics Card Help

by Chris Thomps » Sat, 09 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I am writing this to ask for some input from you guys. I currently
have a STB Systems Lightspeed 128 Graphics Card that I bought a few
months ago. I put this in my computer(Packard Bell Pentium 100mz
w/24megs of Ram) and saw no difference in the speed of NASCAR. What I
mean is, I bought the card to allow me to add more details in the game
and I don't notice that it sped it up at all. The guy at Packard Bell
says that the card that comes in the computer is just as good as any I
would put in. The guy at Computer City says this card(Lightspeed) is
one of the best there is. My question(s) is: I will buy another card
if there is one better because all I use the computer for lately is
Racing(NASCAR, Indycar, GP2) and could you guys recommend the best.
Also, is there a Univebe driver or something that I should use in
NASCAR to help with the speed of the game. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I also have a ACM Game card. Thanks.

Chris,

Just wait a couple more weeks for the release of Nascar2.  It will have
much better performance than Nascar1.  The best card right now is the
Matrox Millenium because it comes with a special version of Nascar that
runs much better than the stock one.  If you are not happy with the
Lightspeed with Nascar2 then buy a Rendition Verite based 3d accelerator
and prepare to be blown away.  If you order an Intergraph Reactor before
Xmas it will only cost you $150 and it comes with Quake and Indycar2,
both Rendition Ready.
