F1 2000: Hockenhiem

Well I fired up F1 2000 for the first time since I injured my
achilles tendon at the end of may. As it turns out playing the
game and exercising my foot doing the gas pedal will
be great therapy :-)

Anyway I was astonished at this track. The elevation
changes are simply awesome. Yep F1RS rendition
of this track was flat and certainly sucked compared
to this. My best time was 2:08 but hey I am handi-
capped :-)

I also reacquainted myself with the FF effects with my
Logitech FF USB wheel. You can feel the bumpiness
of the track in several turns, most notably the last turn
before the main start/finish straight.

The cool part is that I was doing a practice session.
There was one prost that just couldn't stay on the
track to save his life. How appropriate I though.
The yellow minardi was having troubles too. Plus
they were slower than ***just like you would expect.

I am curious though, does anyone seriously think the
hockenhiem track in F1 2000 is not accurate?

Bottom line though was that I did have a good time...

Hey, i hope you recover soon. My best laptime in Hockenheim is now 1:40:059
(did it yesterday). Pretty good i think. I have to admit, i practised a lot.

Yep, the track is real bumpy and has two blind chicanes. Very difficult. I
have to say, racing consistent on this track is very very difficult.

No. I agree on you. I tell it everybody. F1 2000 is a real good game. The
tracks are accurate. The physics of the car is amazing. I think, for now,
this is the best F1 sim. Ofcourse i hope GP3 will beat F1 2000...... Only
one week to go....

Right here... I think it's not the greatest.  The hills\bumps are
there... but f1 2000, just like in almost every track, has exagurated
the bumps into hills.  To me the most impressive track models are in one
game... Superbike 2000, now that's photo-realistic track models and
graphics.

Hockenheim IS flat; but all the chicanes and the corners in the Motodrom are
banked.

The F12000 track has built-in "hills" and no banking. Overall it is the worst
Sim-Hockenheim Ive ever seen. Superbike 2000 is the best one, so far.

OK. I'll take your word for it. At least until the race which is next
week I think. I'll be paying special attention. I hope to put more
laps in the sim too so we will see.

It's very accurate I think the swoopy bit at the ostcurve is great.
Did you know greg that the FIA want Hockenheim changed in future they
want the circuit to go from the mickey mouse bit to a new mickey mouse
bit.  Pity huh ?

Yep, I thought it was pretty damn cool myself. Especially the third
chicane where you feel like you're almost catching air going over the
right-turn crest.

I don't know if it is that realistic, though. I don't remember it
being that hilly last year I watched it.

1.39.780 so far...

If you run a race, the AI can't get through the stadium section cleanly to save
their lives...

I thought the stadium section was virtually flat in F1 2000
It was bad in SCGT

The stadium section is flat. It is the chicanes that are somewhat
blind.

I figured as much. They can't seem to negotiate the last turn
onto the main S/F straight. I even saw a ferrarri spin out there
every lap during practice. I am starting to wonder how they
can put up times which are even similar to mine. I am assuming
the problem is that I had the AI turned down. I think I will try cranking
it up and see what happens. It would be pretty sad if hockenheim
were unraceable.

Virtually flat???  I *definitely* see the bumps/hills in it, and that's what's
screwing me up....

Dodge'em cars, if you're in a pack.  Look at it this way - you can practice
your 'accident-avoidance' skills... :)
