I know this isn't a simulator and it isn't my cup of tea, but here's a
preview of CART Fury for the PS2.

If we're lucky this game will be as good as Sega's Daytona games and will
raise awareness of CART.  Maybe then we'll get a decent simulator from
Papyrus or someone else.

I reiterate:

Get over it -- it's NOT going to happen.  Midway has the CART license
tied up through 2003, and they're not going to do anything for the PC,
as far as I can tell.

The best you're going to get anytime soon will be the CART2K project
(http://www.champweb.net/) and the CART Heat project
(http://cartheat.bhmotorsports.com/).  And BOTH of those are going to
be far better than the LAST major CART sim we saw (i.e., C:PR).

Simply because they own the license does not mean (a) it's exclusive or (b)
they are unwilling to sell the license or (c) are unwilling to publish a
CART sim by a third party.  Acclaim owns the Ferrari license in the states.
Any Ferrari based game that is released in the states MUST be done through
Acclaim.  Sega released Ferrari F355 in the states.  How?  They had Accalim
publish the title.  It's very simple really.

It is not a foregone conclusion that a CART sim will not be published before
2003.  Whether you care to believe it or not.

John, before you fire off a reply I would agree with you that a CART sim is
unlikely.  I can only see Papyrus releasing one, and I think GPL has
frightened them off from taking risks.

True, but SOMEONE is first going to have to have develop an interest
in developing a CART sim, and THEN they're going to have to go through
the hoops of working through Midway, which adds another layer of
complexity to an already complex mix.  Then add in the fact that most
publishers and developers currently view both CART and the IRL as
losing propositions as compared to F1 or NASCAR, and we're talking
about a longshot at best.

Unless, of course, there are some brave souls out there with more love
for the genre than common sense.  And that in itself is yet another
longshot, unfortunately.
