Specs below are from James Pickard's scan of the brochure.  With my PII
450, 128RAM, TNT it would be nice if I just needed to turn the sky off.
Oh well the summer is still far away and this seems to have been written
in a bit of a hurry...

That seems a bit odd. Geoff Crammond kept going on about how the game
would be playable on a wide range of machines. There are still a
*lot* of 4 meg 3D cards out there in everyday use (eg my ancient
Voodoo1, though that will be upgraded to a Voodoo3 soon if I can get
one to work with my Intel 810 [ugh]). A choice of software or 8 meg+
only hardware leaves a big gap in the middle.

If it was going to be for 8 meg+ hardware *only* (like Rally
Championship, which never claimed to be playable on lower-spec
machines in any case), I could understand it, but doing it this way
just seems pointless. Anyone who's got a PC powerful enough to play
GP3 in software mode is going to have a 3D card of some sort already.

Yeah, it's hard to see that particular number in the scan, maybe someone
who has the flyer can verify.  You're right though, someone with a 266 is
unlikely to have an 8+ accelerator and would have get a better card (16
Mb cards are down to $50-70 US) to enjoy a good combination of framerates
and resolution.  It will be interesting to see how sofware mode will
cater (if at all) to the lower spec machines.  -Keith
