T2 help

by Marc Johnso » Sun, 28 Dec 1997 04:00:00

I just installed a diamond monster 3d yesterday.  Every thing was
working great the t2 the card everything, until I played descent 2. I
played had a little fun, and since I didn't know the cheat codes, plus
it was 1:30 in the morn, I unhooked my sidewinder pro and reconnected my
t2, which I disconnected to play descent.  The thrust master pro panel
says it is not connected, and the regular game controller says it is ok,
but when I want to calibrate it says it is not connected properly.  To
test the connection after an hour and a half of fiddling with it I
played icr2 in restarted dos mode and low and behold it worked fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions?  The sidewinder pro did and still does
work fine.

For some reason this same thing happens to me when I switch between my
joystick and t2. I end up having to right click on the joystick in either
game controllers (dx5), or in the propanel utility. Then click on
calibrate. Sometimes I have to do this 3 or 4 times to get it to recognize
it ok. I've not been able to narrow it down to 1 specific thing yet.

  Try this..
when you change sticks in Win95.  Especially with Dx5.  You must remove
the old driver before adding the new one.  Even tho the pro panel and the
Controller applet and the DX5 control panel all have slots for 10 or more
sticks, you can have only one listed at any one time.  Always remove the old
driver, then add the new one and calibrate.  It's a hassle, but it should work

T2 help

Marc, I've had similar problems from time to time with a CH FF joystick when
I swith to a T1 controller.  Go into Control Panel, then System, then Device
Manager, then go into the properties tab for your sidewinder pro. Uncheck
orginal configuration, then restart your computer.  This should free up
system resources.  Unselect sidewinder pro then select your T2.  When you
want to reuse the sidewinder, unselect the t2, recheck orginal configuration
in the control panel for the sidewinder.  Then reselect the sidewinder in
propanel. I may not have this order EXACTLY right but I know if you
unconfigure the controller in System and reboot resources are freeded up.
