Help with MTU settings

by Paul Jone » Fri, 12 Mar 1999 04:00:00

Can someone tell me the registry keys I need to setup the MTU and RWIN
settings. I cannot use any of the utility programs to do this as they
all seem to alter the DUN area and I am not using DUN. I have four
TCP/IP areas assigned to my pretty complicated LAN/WAN/Modem setup and I
am struggling to differentiate which is for which in the registry. Any
help will be gratefully received,
Cheers,
Paul

See http://people.a2000.nl/bcwes/w95.htm. If you have more than one entry
for tcp/ip drivers, check the ip address or so to see what is what.

Get iSpeed, which will allow you to select which profile you wish to
alter.  If your IP doesn't show up in the IP box in iSpeed when you
scroll through the profiles, you can temporarily setup your Win95 TCP/IP
to hardcode you IP so you can pick the correct profile.  The iSpeed FAQ
at their site explains how to do this.

Set your sights to http://www.hms.com/ispeed.htm

MTU stands for Maximum Transfer Unit and tells your DUN/PPP
connection, how 'big' the data packages, buffers etc. shall be.

AFAIK the standard windows settings are way to 'large'(e.g. MTU=1500
instaead of 576), because Microsoft designed these for local area
networks
I only alter these settings by comfortable free tools like iSpeed.
