Last Monday I e-mailed this question to Packard Bell.  I also have a
Packard Bell - P166 with on-board accelerated VGA controller - the
manual (on CD) doesn't give you any clue as to how to disable the VGA
controller.  I posted the same question here and immediately received a
number of responses.

The posts I received indicated that if the computer had bus mastering
PCI slots the system would recognize the new PCI video controller on
boot-up and disable the old controller.  I called Intergraph on
Wednesday and installed my Reactor on Thursday - it works beautifully!!
Quake and ICR2 with the Reactor are great.

Today (Friday) I received an E-mail message from Packard Bell with the
same information - slow, but at least they did answer.

Reactor Card Question

by Allan F » Sun, 10 Nov 1996 04:00:00

After looking in my Packard-Bell (don't snicker, the price was right)
manual, it appears that my current video accelerator is on the
motherboard rather than a separate card.  If I would install a Reactor
card would the computer recognize the new card and disable the
on-aboard adaptor? (this is of course unclear in my manual and talking
to P-B is'nt any better)

Thanks,
-Al
