No worries, just fine AFAIC.
No we're not, but that's a language issue, you mean ridiculous.... eh, no
comment. ;-)
Well, it does take a lot of effort to reach these barriers, especially if
GPL is your first sim. Some numbers are even for ever out of reach for some
people. Don't see myself doing a 1m27s at Monza, for example.
I smile too, because I relive the moment I crossed the same hurdle. I like
these messages very much.
We race all the time, sometimes the AI, but mostly eachother. Trouble is,
with the game being out so long, it takes a lot of practise to be
competitive online. Things like GPLRank lift the tedium of practising for
the online events.
Thank you, I hope you enjoy your game/sim of choice too.
We don't, it just seems that way. When you're passionate about a certain
subject you tend to sound more harsh and blinkered than you really are. I
think that's a good thing (sometimes I even go over the top on purpose to
provoke the other poster) as it drives home the point you're trying to make.
Newsgroup posting is intellectual warfare.
That last one is debatable, depending on what definition of "god" you happen
to be using. ;-))
Hmmm... in a sense I am happy my suspicions were confirmed and this
vindicates some of the flack I took for my opinions before we had any code
to go on, in another I would have been even more happy if I'd been totally
wrong so I would have a ground braking sim to buy and play on Friday.
Overall I'm sad as I feel a legend like Crammond owed it to himself to
produce a better game. I'm very disappointed he didn't.
Believe me, myself and all other GPL fans on RAS would like nothing better
than having another game of GPL quality or better. Not in the least because
I think it would spur Dave Keammer into making an even better one (if both
of my heroes fail me with future releases, I'll seriously consider***
up my helmet). Besides I think GPL does a good job of defending itself, it's
still around after nearly two years and tales like Bendito's first
experiences with the game lift my spirits.
Ah, the common mistake of associating the liking of a particular game with
it's subjectmatter. This may be the case for the casual racers (I have heard
people spurn NFS:PU because they don't like Porsches), but racing simulation
fans will drive anything that's properly simulated. It's all the same to us,
whether bikes, '67 GP cars or modern F1. Subjectmatter does not enter the
discussion of a game's merits.
