ICR2 and mouse buttons

I'm thrilled with ICR2 - so many subtle and not so subtle
improvements! Far too many to mention them all, but...

I particularly like the wrap-around side mirrors that let
you see cars beside you - helps immeasurably when dicing
at corners. Greatly improved granularity to changes - it
is possible to really hone the cars handling now - I've
found that reducing the wheel lock angles for most roadcourse
setups to 13 degrees is necessary now since I use a joystick,
and was finding input too sensitive at greater wheellock values.
This really helps me stay on the road and yet still get around
tight courses. This might be the solution for all those who
have been commenting on how hard/sensitive the cars are to drive.
I actually find them easier to control (once I've set them up).

The courses seem improved - plus it seems easier to judge the
width of the car for some reason! I don't clip walls anywhere
near as much as I used to. I also appreciate the improved
engine sounds and overall user interfaces. The graphics level
control options are now perfect - allowing me to tailor my
setup to work just right to my taste on my slow machine.

The ONE thing which disappointed me:
I was really e***d about being able to designate mouse buttons
for changing gears (as I do with f1gp), but this doesn't actually
work for me. When I've designated mouse buttons for shifting I
get automatic transmission instead - the mouse buttons having
no effect. I can get manual gears when using keyboard keys only.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this a known bug?
