Wow...you're pissed.  I didn't have any of those problems.  Must've
been the divine intervention Michael Carver's been experiencing at
Cleveland that got me through the upgrade the first time.

I copied EVERYTHING to another directory, then pulled setups, modem settings,
etc. over from that directory to the patched copy. When I'm sure everything
is smooth, I'll delete the "backup" directory.

I got the patch for ICR2 today.  After copying the
PAINTKIT.EXE from the CD (a friend reported that the patch stops with a
fail-message if it's not an unpatched paintkit), and started the patch.
It stopped after patching the PAINTKIT.EXE.  Shit.  I deltree a bunch of
directories, install the whole goddamn sh#t again, run the patch and
then RESTALL the saved files.  Alright, it's patched now.  But why
didn't it save the control configurations, or the modem setups, or
your game options?!?!?!  TOTAL F###ING BULLSH#T!!!!!!!!  Thank you
Sierra/Papyrus for screwing up in a ROYAL F####ING WAY!!!  AGAIN!!!!
What kind of a PATCH requires the re-installation of the whole goddamn
game?  Totally ridiculous crap...  The a##holes responsible for
prolonging the release of this patch, AND the guys who actually
decided how it would take care of the patching, should all have their
nuts crushed in a vice!!!!!!!!!!  I'm totally pissed off at this ***
they call software...  It is unforgiveable to sit on a patch for this
long especially with the EXTENSIVE flaws inherent in ICR2.  Then to
make the patching process a nightmare and to find out that not all
of the bugs are fixed, well that just plain STINKS TO CLOUD NINE!!!!
Somebody should sue the living ***out of both Sierra and Papyrus.
I want a face I can smash, NOW!

One GP II for me please...

PS:  Why is it NASCAR works so much better?  NASCAR II better be

Cool down... I patched the game by installing a clean copy in a
different directory, patched this, and copied only the changed files
to my old icr2-directory. No problems at all, and took only a few
minutes  (P90, WD Caviar disk, 6Mb smartdrive). I admit the patch
installation procedure could have been better, but maybe the _real_
patch from Sierra will be (I have not heard anyone saying the patch
that originated from Hawaii site is official :)

Available in Thursday July 18, here in Finland.

IMO Nascar plays worse than ICR2 (w/patch the difference is even
bigger).

I didn't even reinstall. I knew I had a full install on my hard drive. I
didn't backup my setups either; nothing. I just typed:
patch -ignoremissing patch.rtp

and everything worked fine. Note however that if you patched your paintkit
previously, you might have a patch.com file still in your ICR2 directory.
Delete this file. The v.1.02 patch has a patch.exe. If you just type
'patch', DOS will run the patch.com before it runs the patch.exe.

I ordered the icr2 and t2 pachage 4 weeks ago.  I had 2 day air on it
thinking i was going to be playing it that week so i waited a week went
by so i called up and gave the order number nothing.  they said its not
on there system yet.  ok i figured thats cool so i waited another week
called up not on system yet.  by this time i was getting a little pissed.
I waited another week I called up and they said nope its not on there
yet.  I said well i have the recite right here whats taking so long.
They said we dont know.  so I said ok i will order here over the phone so
you can ship it and just cancel the other order.  The lady said we cant
cancel the order until it shows up on the system.. i said ok ill call
back until its on the system so i can cancel it.  then if i ordered it
now i will have it by the end of the week  right?  she said yes so i
ordered it and was through everything and then the lady said well were
out of stock your going to have to wait 30 days before we can ship it to
you.  I said well what the hell am i ordering it for with 2 day air.  if
i have to wait 4 weeks an extra week wont kill me.  she didnot say
anything.  so i did not order it and am still waiting for the other order
to pop up so i can cancel it.  if they are going to do business like this
***them ill go some place else and get them.  instead of t2 im going
to order that thomas wheel.  I was very disaapointed with sierra.  When I
ordered anything from Papyrus they did it all ok atleast they did not
beat around the bush if something was not in stock they told you right
there.  oh well im off my soapbox for the day..

Uhhh...play another game then, huh?  Consumers vote with their

Sue?  What could you possibly sue for?

I anxiously await the release of your perfectly coded driving

i agree fully with your comments , i got hold of an original win 95
version of indy car 2 and it had updated dos version on cd as well and
in the dos version your have to disable the mouse driver cause you cant
configer your controls for joysticks (wheels) it always configers to
mouse and i can tell you after extensive testing that the win 95 version
is slower in svga than the dos version and thats with win95s so called
great direct-x running with it,so dos still rulz when it comes to racing
games
